I just mailed out a bunch of Save the Dates. I didn’t get to mail out all of them because I ran out of stamps. Every time I try to think of who to invite and what not. I always feel like I am forgetting somebody. Or Should I invite this person even if they don’t live in the same state as us. Or do I invite my whole entire family, even the ones I haven’t seen in a while. I’m sure it would be nice to invite them but I am not crazy about having more and more people show up. I do believe the reception site only holds 150 and I am having an outside wedding. So I guess as long as I stay with in that margin I should be fine. However, I always feel bad when I think about somebody. I am just so unsure on who to invite. And who would actually want to come. Granted I am not sure I really know anybody that would want to turn down free food and music. Plus cake!
Just one of those other wedding things that make you think. I think I will stick with who I am originally invited with the save the dates. When it gets closer to mailing out the invites if there is seriously anybody else that I think would like to come and be invited I will mail them one. Or if you do want to come and don’t know if I am going to be inviting you because you weren’t sent a facebook invite thing. Let me know. I will gladly invite you. It is just so easy to lose track of everybody. No matter how many times I write up the list.
Saturday, My Mom, My Maid of Honor (my cousin Jen), and friends of the family that we’ve known forever came over to my moms house to start the planning o the wedding! We went over so many details that by the end of the day my head was spinning with food and decorations.
Shaun didn’t mind since he played with his cousin Mason and the son of our friend Damian. He was tuckered out though by the end of the day!
We decided on bouquets, decorations for the wedding and the reception. We discussed who is doing what and who is calling who. Thanks to everybody that helped. We even decided what our buffet at the reception will have on it. Which that is what I am so far going to share with you. I will share the decorations with you guys later as we make them since we are having pretty much a diy wedding.
Now the food somebody suggest Turkey so the first thing that pops into my head Thanksgiving. So we are having a Thanksgiving style buffet. So the buffet will have the following:
- Turkey or Chicken Breast which ever is the cheapest at the time
- Mashed Potatoes
- Green Bean Casserole
- Candid Yams
- Bread Stuffing
- Cranberry Sauce
- Fruit Tray
- Veggie Tray
- Regular Salad with trimmings on the side so guest can add what they like themselves
- Cookie Tray
- and Possibly couple Pies!
I am so excited about this. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because of the feast we get to enjoy and what a great meal to have on my wedding day a great big feast! Plus I think you can’t go wrong with a Thanksgiving inspired meal and everybody should enjoy it!
Next Post: If I remember I’ll try and take a picture of our save the dates and share how I got them!
This is going to be our blog to keep everybody up to date on current events that surround our wedding. Maybe get some ideas from our guest and whatever else we decide to blog about. I didn’t really like any of the “Wedding” Sites out there and decided a blog was more us. I love talking and give me the chance to talk about my wedding then so be it!
I decided that I wanted a fall wedding so that came in to helping decide a date. My brother is currently going to be deployed to Quaid (not sure spelling) in November so I wanted to have my wedding before he leaves. He is currently station in Oklahoma so it would be so much more easier for him to get here than him being in a different country. So that is how we came up with the date September 24, 2011.
How Cody asked me to marry him: Well I knew it was coming when he told me I had to get my ring finger sized so I can’t say I wasn’t as surprised. Also, when the black friday sale had a huge mark down at JC Penny sale and when he found out after he got home for work he had to leave. Hmm.. I had my suspicions. Just didn’t know when or where or how. So December 15th he comes home from leaving after he got a mysterious phone call saying what he ordered was in. He hides the ring. He doesn’t tell me what he had to pick up though. He hides it comes out and ask me if I want to know what he got. Myself being nosy and curious all the time of course needed to know. So he tells me I have to find it, but I at least can ask if I am hot or cold! I eventually found it in a drawer that we never use. After, I find it and open it he asks me to marry him. I am pretty sure everybody can figure out what I said.
Tomorrow: Where we are going to get married and have the reception. Maybe some diy products that we are planning on doing!
